Today we spent the day exploring the city of Auckland. We began by walking back down the Prince’s Wharf area for breakfast.
Walking along the waterfront a little further. These buildings along the wharf, which look like cruise ships, house restaurants and retail shops on the ground floor, a lot of office space, and the Hilton hotel at the far end.
We then purchased tickets to the Explorer bus, which is a tourist bus that circles around the city, allowing you to hop on and off at various popular places throughout the day.
Views from Mt. Eden, the highest point in Auckland.
Tomorrow we pick up our rental car and head south…
So glad to finally hear from you. You must have got your camera problem fixed. The pictures are great. I recognized a couple of places…we also went to that hill above Auckland. Drive safely. Mom
We are getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road now… except for the few roundabouts where I missed my exit. Also the wipers work great 😉 The turn signals are on the wrong side of the steering wheel so we kept turning on the wipers. But we are getting comfortable now. We will be fine for the rest of the trip.
I forgot all about the change in driving there. We were always ferried about when we were there. What kind of car did you get? I remember a lot of Toyotas and mostly small cars. Mom
Nadine, these pictures bring back so many recent memories. I had not taken pictures from the plane and am sorry that I did not because, as you’ve captured it, the landscape is so unbelievably gorgeous. Can’t wait to see more. Hope you had fun at Rotorua.
