Day 3 – Whistler Village

As is typical on our ski trips, we normally ski the first day and take the second day off skiing to explore the area.  As we had never been to Whistler before, we decided to explore Whistler Village.

The Whistler Village is divided into 3 areas.  The main village is in the centre, the upper village is just across the river, and the Creekside area (not shown on the map below) is a short drive south of the main village.  I’ve added a red star on the map showing our hotel.

After checking out the upper village, we walked over to the main village.  The walk only takes a few minutes through a pretty forest walk and over the river.

Once in Whistler Village, we wandered around and explored the various shops.

As large as Whistler Village is, I was expecting it to have more shops, restaurants and public facilities than it does. The large map is a little deceiving, since most of the village buildings are residential condos or hotels.

After wandering around the village for a while, we returned to the hotel to soak in the outdoor hot pools for the afternoon.

In the evening, we decided to return to Whistler Village for dinner.  We had heard good reviews about Hy’s Steakhouse, so were determined to check it out, and it didn’t disappoint.  I especially liked the Caesar salad made right at the table.

After dinner, we returned to the Gold lounge back at the hotel for drinks and dessert.
