Day 2B – Skiing

We spent our first full day in Mont Tremblant skiing.  The weather was overcast, but the temperature was comfortable and the snow conditions were good.

Skiing on the south side by the village was busy, so once at the top of the gondola, we skied on the Versant Soleil.  Nadine skied a few runs on the Algonquin run, which is the only beginner run on the Versant Soleil.  This long run does not seem to have as much snow as other areas of the resort, and was not open when we were here in January, so this is Nadine’s first time skiing the runs on this side of the mountain.

Here is a video of Nadine finishing a run on Algonquin and coming toward the Soleil Express chairlift.

When it was time for lunch, I convinced Nadine to ski an intermediate run, and we skied Toboggan.  This allowed us to access the Trapper’s Refuge cabin for lunch, which is always less crowded than eating at the top of the mountain or down in the village.

After lunch, we continued to ski on the Versant Soleil for the remainder of the day.

In the evening, we watched the kids tubing next to the hotel before heading out for dinner.

For dinner, we had reservations at La Forge, in the steakhouse upstairs.  We had heard good things about this restaurant, and it didn’t disappoint.

Day 1B – Arrival in Mont-Tremblant

As Nadine has really enjoyed learning to ski, and we both love coming to Mont Tremblant every year, we decided to come twice this winter! Just like our trip in January, we’re heading out for 5 nights in March.

For the second time this season, we’re taking Air Canada’s new seasonal service non-stop from YYZ to YTM airport.  After spending some time in the lounge, we headed to the gate to board our flight.  Unfortunately, the crew could not get one of the engines to start, maintenance crews could not repair the problem, and our aircraft was not going anywhere.

My first thought was they were going to cancel the flight, because there was only two other passengers on the entire flight.  Fortunately, the flight coming back was full, so AC was determined to find another aircraft to get us on our way.  After a change of gates and about 45 minutes delay, we were on our way on a different aircraft.

Here we are seated on our near private plane.  They had to move us all to the back of the aircraft for weight and balance issues.

The rest of our journey was without incident, and we arrived at the Fairmont Tremblant in time for some appetizers in the lounge.  We got settled in our room and relaxed for the evening.
