Day 2 – Skiing

The weather today was overcast with periods of light snow, and temperatures reasonably warm.  Skiing conditions were good.

After breakfast in the lounge, we got suited up for the outdoors, picked up our skis from the valet and headed out.

Here is Nadine skiing down one of the runs on the south side.

After spending the morning skiing, around 1 PM we decided to head in to the village for some lunch.

We enjoyed our lunch, wandered around the village for a few minutes, and headed back up the gondola to continue our day of skiing.  Nadine is getting more comfortable on the slopes, and much more confident in her new skiing abilities.

After getting back to the room and getting cleaned up, we headed back down to the terrace level, dressed in our bathing suits, ready to soak our muscles in the outdoor hot pools.

That evening, after swimming, we enjoyed a nice buffet in the lounge.  I particularly liked the coconut shrimp!

Wanting something different for dessert, we bundled up to head outside for some Beaver Tails!

After dessert, it was a beautiful evening in the village for a walk.

After a nice walk, we returned to the hotel for the evening.

Day 1 – Arrival in Mont-Tremblant

As we enjoyed ourselves in Mont-Tremblant in past years, we decided to return again this year.  The plan was to get in a few good days of skiing, and otherwise just relax and enjoy ourselves.

Unlike previous years, we are no longer forced to fly with Porter airlines and fly out of the Toronto City Centre airport on the island.  Air Canada has started up seasonal service from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) direct to Mont-Tremblant (YTM), so we jumped at the chance and booked our flights.

Arriving at the airport, we dropped the car at the Terminal 1 valet parking and went to check-in.  The check-in process was interesting.  We were asked where we were headed, and answered “Mont-Tremblant”.  The agent then replied, “but where are you FLYING to?”.  Again, we answered “Mont-Tremblant”.  After the agent said they don’t fly there, I had to feed her the flight number.  It’s a new service, so I guess that’s to be expected.

We got through security and waited in the Maple Leaf Lounge for our flight.  When I went to check our flight status on the departures board, I saw another sign that this is a new service for AC.  While our flight number was listed, it took me a while to find it, as the destination name was blank.

Eventually, it was time to board our flight, and we arrived at our destination without any problems.

We arrived at the Fairmont Tremblant and checked in to our room in time to enjoy the evenings appetizers in the Gold lounge.

After relaxing in the lounge, we returned to the room to get unpacked and get to bed. The plan for the next day was to wake early and get outside for some skiing.

Day 9 – Heading Home

Today is the day we need to leave for home, and it’s really sad, because the fantastic weather we had yesterday is sticking around today!

In order to comfortably make our flight home, we would need to leave Lake Louise around 11:30 AM.  After breakfast, we packed our things and headed outside for one more short walk.  Since we hadn’t walked the Lake Louise shoreline yet on this visit, we thought that was a nice thing to do before heading for the airport.

Passing by the front of the Chateau, they were setting up for a wedding.  Some lucky couple has obviously won the weather lottery for their big day!

After our short walk by the lake, it was time to check out of our lovely hotel and start the 2-hour drive back to Calgary International Airport.  Once back in Calgary, we dropped off the rental car, went through all the usual airport formalities, and waited for our flight back to Toronto.

We make it back home safely, and look forward to returning to this beautiful area again sometime.
