Lake Louise to Banff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was time to pack up and check out of the Chateau Lake Louise and head to Banff.\u00a0 Looking out the windows of our suite, it was obvious that the nice weather we had a couple of days ago was gone.\u00a0 Thick clouds have set in, creating the eerie scene in the photo below.\u00a0 Even under thick cloud, the area is still beautiful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61903591.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After packing up the car, we took another walk around the hotel and waterfront before heading out.\u00a0 Below is the lobby of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61903661.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Walking around outside, even the canoe rental dock was still busy in the cloudy weather, with several people milling about and a few canoes out on the lake.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904031.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before driving down to Banff, we returned to Moraine Lake for a quick stop.\u00a0 We stopped here last year and climbed the rock pile.\u00a0 This year, we thought we\u2019d walk the shoreline of the famous lake.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904121.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904281.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"759\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here, Nadine is taking the hard way across a creek.\u00a0 I used the bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904401.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"759\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Moraine Lake maintains a blue colour through the season, unlike Lake Louise which offers a series of shades of green.\u00a0 The water supplying Moraine Lake doesn\u2019t contain the same amount of rock flour as Lake Louise (which gives the green colour), which is ground away from the surrounding glaciers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904601.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now at the end of the lake, this is about as far as we can go.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA         \" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2013\/P61904871.jpg\" width=\"570\" height=\"759\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Leaving Moraine Lake for Banff, we were treated to a very nice surprise.\u00a0 As we turned on to Lake Louise Drive from Moraine Lake Road, this grizzly bear was grazing at the side of the road!\u00a0 This is the closest we have ever been to a live grizzly bear in the wild.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; display: inline; float: none; padding: 0px;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BlUv3f-F7qc?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Arriving in Banff, we returned to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.\u00a0 We left the car with the valet and checked in to our room.\u00a0 We have a very big and nice 1 bedroom suite.\u00a0 It even has a walk-in closet!\u00a0 While not quite as updated as our room at the Chateau Lake Louise, it is certainly larger.\u00a0 Below is a photo of the bedroom.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline;
