We just couldn&#8217;t catch a break this trip!<\/p>\n<p>We set out after breakfast toward Lake Agnes, on what has become a very familiar trail to Nadine and I.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2018\/Day10\/20180825_100000-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4032\" height=\"3024\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3858\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trail headed up through the forest, and we stopped for a rest at the end of the first long switchback.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2018\/Day10\/20180825_103507-768x1580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1960\" height=\"4032\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3859\" height=\"5312\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3860\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Eventually, we arrived at Mirror Lake.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Continuing up the trail, we stopped briefly at the falls below Lake Agnes, and then took the stairs up to the teahouse.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3863\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And we arrived at Lake Agnes, under a mix of cloud and smoke.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had packed sandwiches for lunch, because as I figured, the lineup to get a table at the teahouse was crazy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"4032\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3866\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Given how horrible the visibility is today, there&#8217;s not much point continuing up the Beehives, so we descended the stairs on the other side of Lake Agnes, and followed the highline trail out toward the Plain of Six Glaciers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here we are skirting the base of the Big Beehive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We arrived at the Highline Trail and followed it to the west.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The views started to open up toward the end of the valley (but still with lots of smoke).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I always like this spot on the trail, with this lovely swath of purple wildflowers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"3024\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3877\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the junction between the Highline Trail and the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail, we turned left and headed back to Lake height=\"4032\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3878\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we were getting closer to Lake Louise, the trail entered the forest and we came across these two ground Total ascent\/descent was 1,505 feet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Alberta2018\/Day10\/ElevationPlot-768x396.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1900\" height=\"979\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3891\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Back at the hotel, we rested a little before getting ready for dinner at my favourite restaurant here, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairmont.com\/lake-louise\/dining\/walliserstube\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Walliser Stube<\/a>.
