We checked out of our hotel in Montreux, and boarded a train for Visp. In Visp we changed to a different line, which would take us up through the valley in the mountains towards Zermatt.<\/p>\n<p>The train moved slowly as it climbed through the valley. There are no private vehicles allowed in Zermatt (although there are some commercial and construction vehicles around), so we were taken by horse drawn wagon. It was not very far, and we likely could have walked it in about 3 minutes, but it&#8217;s a service the hotel provides to all of their guests.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re staying at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montcervinpalace.ch\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Mont Cervin Palace<\/a>, in a very nice 2-level suite. We have a nice view of the Matterhorn from our balcony, but I&#8217;ll have to wait until tomorrow to get a photo. The cloudy weather today meant the famous mountain was in hiding.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some pictures of our lovely room.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of storage along the entrance hallway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2238\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9036990-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Including a walk-in closet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2242\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9037001-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"779\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The living room was very spacious&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2239\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9036991-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9036992-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The bedroom was upstairs in a loft overlooking the living room and included a skylight above&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2241\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9036994-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had a nice welcome amenity left for us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2243\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/Switzerland2015\/P9037005-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After getting settled in our room, we went out to explore the town and to figure out where everything is.
