{"id":146,"date":"2010-04-27T07:53:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-27T07:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/NewZealand\/?p=146"},"modified":"2017-09-23T00:00:20","modified_gmt":"2017-09-23T04:00:20","slug":"day-24-hamilton-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/?p=146","title":{"rendered":"Day 24 \u2013 Hamilton Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The skies clouded in a bit today, but it was still a nice warm and breezy day.\u00a0 A great day for exploring the area or just relaxing on the deck.<\/p>\n<p>After breakfast, we went over to a small wildlife park on the island where we got the chance to hold a Koala.\u00a0 See photo and video below!\u00a0 This little guy was 5 months old.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"P4274516\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day24HamiltonIsland_A0CE\/P4274516.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4274516\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here is the short video clip.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LKylR9tDMw4?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We then drove around the island for a bit, checking out places we hadn\u2019t been yet.<\/p>\n<p>Shown below is the resorts\u2019 own helipad, used for helicopter tours of the area, as well as taking people out to the Great Barrier Reef and also to shuttle people to the golf course on the island across the channel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"P4274583\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day24HamiltonIsland_A0CE\/P4274583.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4274583\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When we returned to our pavilion in the early afternoon, we had a big disappointment.\u00a0 We were booked to go on a sunset cruise around the nearby islands this evening.\u00a0 Unfortunately, they cancelled the cruise because the boat was undergoing repairs, and they would not be completed by the end of the day.\u00a0 I\u2019m unclear why they could not simply charter an alternate vessel at the wharf in town to carry out the tour.\u00a0 Refunds and apologies are fine for a lesser establishment, but a resort of this calibre should do whatever is necessary to deliver results.<\/p>\n<p>We then relaxed on the deck while waiting for dinner time.\u00a0 As you can see from the photo below, it would have been a nice evening for our cruise!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline;
