We awoke to a slightly overcast day.\u00a0 However, the clouds would be short lived and quickly made way for a very sunny day.<\/p>\n

Each time we stepped out, we saw hundreds of these little blue butterflies in the trees around our swimming pool.\u00a0 They are Ulysses butterflies<\/p>\n

By the time we were having breakfast, the clouds had cleared.\u00a0 It was a little hazy and the humidity was high.<\/p>\n

We made a quick trip to town in the golf buggy to pick up a few provisions.\u00a0 Here are the gates at the entrance to the resort as we head to town (not really a town but a main street with a few of stores).<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a nice view out to the Whitsunday Islands from the road near one of the highest points on Hamilton Island.<\/p>\n

We returned to our pavilion to relax a bit.<\/p>\n

Here is one of the resort pools.<\/p>\n

We arranged for a picnic lunch and drop-off at a beach on a nearby island.\u00a0 Here are some photos on route to the picnic site.<\/p>\n

This is Dent Island, which sits next to Hamilton Island, and is also the Hamilton Island Golf Club.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard it\u2019s a beautiful course, but it\u2019s far too hot and humid for me to play a round.<\/p>\n

I went exploring through the low tide.<\/p>\n

Back at our pavilion, we relaxed and went swimming before dinner.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a nice late afternoon view from our deck.<\/p>\n

Later in the evening, we had a nice dinner.\u00a0 Nadine even ate kangaroo!\u00a0 With the help of my external camera flash and trying some different camera settings, I had a bit more luck with low light photos.<\/p>\n

This is the entrance to the main pavilion that houses the dining area.<\/p>\n
