border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111126\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111126.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111126\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111133\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111133.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111133\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While at Baldwin Street, we met a local resident, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odt.co.nz\/your-town\/dunedin\/3290\/baldwin-st-30-times-day\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Kernahan<\/a>, who currently holds the record for the most times climbing up the hill.\u00a0 He climbs this hill 30 times per day, and the souvenir shop at the base of the street has posted a number of newspaper articles about his frequent hill climbs.<\/p>\n<p>After climbing the hill with Dave, he offered to show us some of his favourite parts of Dunedin that tourists rarely find.<\/p>\n<p>After winding our way up a series of narrow gravel roads, we found ourselves looking at the best vistas in the area.\u00a0 The following photos were taken from on top of the hill that holds Dunedin\u2019s television and radio transmitter.\u00a0 I thought our views yesterday from Lanarch Castle were good, but from this location, we could actually see the entire Otago Peninsula, which takes over an hour to drive along, including the castle and penguin beach we visited the day before.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111148\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111148.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111148\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111159\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111159.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111159\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, after spending a few unplanned hours touring the area with our new friend, it was time to head for Te Anau.\u00a0 We probably could have spent an extra day or two in Dunedin, but that will have to wait for a future trip.<\/p>\n<p>The drive to Te Anau took about four hours, and took us past countless sheep farms, as well as a fair number of farms raising cattle and deer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111278\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111278.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111278\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we got closer to Te Anau, the skies began to get cloudy, and it looked like we were in for rain tomorrow.\u00a0 Of course, in this part of the country, rain is generally expected.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; border: 0px;\" title=\"P4111288\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hodson.ca\/Travel\/wp-content\/pictures\/NewZealand2010\/Day8DunedintoTeAnau_F772\/P4111288.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"P4111288\" width=\"570\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once in Te Anau, we gassed up the truck and checked in to our accommodations.\u00a0 We had a nice little one-bedroom cottage in the country, a few miles out of town.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline;
